About Project Art
Today, over 4 million elementary school students in the US do not receive any arts instruction. ProjectArt is solving this epidemic by building the largest free arts school for youth in the US, without owning a single building. ProjectArt deploys emerging artists to teach after-school visual arts classes to youth in the nation’s public libraries at no cost to the library, students nor their families.
ProjectArt’s innovative residency model grants studio and exhibition space to these artists in a very public forum—the library—as well as the opportunity to design, implement, and teach yearlong art classes to youth in that same library. Currently, our programs are offered in all five boroughs in NYC, Detroit and Miami, with programs launching in LA, Chicago and Pittsburgh
